Martyn Kirk is an Associate Professor in epidemiology. Epidemiology is the study of diseases and its causes. Martyn runs a Masters program teaching people how to investigate disease outbreaks and conducts research on foodborne diseases, such as Salmonella, Listeria and Hepatitis A, many which result in diarrhoea. Martyn likes everything to do with food!
Britt is a visual artist from Canberra with an obsession with patterns and symmetry. Usually taking inspiration from tattoos, nature and geometry, she likes to explore the darker side of things. This petri dish design follows the infamous outbreaks associated with frozen berries as the nasty Hepatitis A virus creeps in under an electron microscope.
