Michael Thomas -
ANU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences
Michael is a computational biophysicist that models a range of different proteins. Many diseases are caused by the malfunctioning of proteins in one way or another, and the majority of today’s drugs act on proteins to influence their function. Michael investigates both disease and drug interactions of proteins in Alzheimer’s Disease, UTIs and new generation of pain killers and antimicrobial agents.
ANU School of Design & Art
Honor has used examples of the protein structures Michael models to create a series of line work drawings that align her own artistic style. Honor likes to experiment highly in her work as an artist, so the variety of applications Michaels scientific research has on people’s life was an awesome inspiration method to create the final design.
