Global spread of infectious diseases

ABOUT MERU

I am infectious diseases epidemiologist – I work at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at the Australian National University.
I work in the field of infectious diseases – understanding how diseases spread – looking at patterns of spread, and design strategies that can prevent spread early on; and implement control measures as needed.

WHY DO YOU LOVE WHAT YOU DO?

There are several things that I love about my work. I love studying bugs and how they spread. I love the complexity as to how different infectious diseases spread in different context.
I love designing simple tools and interventions that can have longer term impact in resource-limited settings. And finally I love empowering and mentoring people who I have the privilege to work with and learn from.
