This National Science Week, five local Canberra scientists are on a quest to get their research on the clothesline.
Shirty Science Season Home is an online event encouraging everyone to unleash their creative side and design research you can wear.
Tune into Shirty Science’s Instagram, 7pm 17 - 21 August, to be inspired by Canberra's leading scientists and then transform your knowledge into a shirt design.
“From indigenous water management to artificial intelligence, we are showcasing scientists from across the STEM sector who are eager to engage curious minds about their research” explains Shirty Science founder Madison Hartill-Law.
Forced by COVID-19 restrictions to adapt the tried and tested Shirty Science method of pairing scientists and artists to create science shirts, Madison is excited by this new process.
“Every Shirty Science artist is always immensely proud of their ability to transform scientific concepts into designs that spark conversations - Season Home will mean many more have that opportunity”
Budding artists will have two weeks to submit their designs. Season Home scientists will then select the winners to be stocked on the Shirty Science website and the winner will receive up to $500 in royalties.
Shirty Science stemmed from a project during Madison’s Masters of Science Communication degree at ANU and is supported by National Science Week and Inspiring Australia ACT.
